Visa for Temporary Visitor - Executives of Foreign Companies

It is possible for executives of foreign companies to obtain visas for Panama for a limited time.  Generally, these visas are granted for a one-year period.  It is necessary that these persons occupy management positions, and also that the foreign company either: a) be registered in Panama as a foreign company in the Public Registry and the Ministry of Commerce or b) proof be provided of the existence of the foreign company that is satisfactory to the Immigration Department.  The salary of the executive should be paid from the international company, and must be more than US$1,000.00.

The executive who is granted a Temporary Visitor Visa may obviously not work for another company while here.  The immigration department may do periodic inspections of the company's local offices to check on this.

[Requirements] [Process in a Nutshell] [Fees and Costs]

Requirements:

In order to apply for this visa, the client should provide Gray & Co. with the following documents:

  1. Police record - duly authenticated

  2. Original Passport (on the day of presentation of the visa application)

  3. Two (2) passport photos (plus two more for registration)

  4. Authenticated Employment letter.

  5. Authenticated Certificate of Good Standing for the foreign company.

  6. Banking reference letter

The employment letter must detail the following:

bullet

the existence of the company and that it is in good standing in its country of origin, its principal head-quarters, and the branch or head-quarters which is responsible for oversight of the office in Panama, as well as the details of the address, phone number, email address, etc. of the principal representatives of the company;

bullet

confirmation that the applicant is an executive of the company, specifying the nature and attributes of the role, and the title;

bullet

confirmation that the salary earned by the executive is from overseas, that this is not Panamanian-source income, and the amounts and form of payment (i.e. wire transfer from the headquarters in XYZ, sent to the applicant's account in Panama);

bullet

That the company is responsible for all expenses of the executive in Panama, and that the company undertakes to inform the Immigration Department should they decide to close their office in Panama or terminate the labour relationship with the applicant, and cover any repatriation expenses which the applicant may have; and

bullet

How long they estimate that the applicant will be working in Panama as an executive.

The banking reference should be issued by a Panamanian bank, either for the applicant or the Company that he is working for, and should indicate how long the account has been in existence.

Our office will then assist the applicant with the following documentation:

  1. Power of Attorney

  2. Application to the Immigration Department for the visa

  3. Medical Certificate

  4. Full copy of the passport, front to back

  5. Translation of any documents to Spanish (if required)

  6. Certificate of Good Standing for the Company, if the company is registered as a foreign company doing business in Panama at the Public Registry

  7. Sworn Declaration of Personal Background

Process in a Nutshell:

bullet

The applicant will need to register at the Immigration Department.  They must be here in person to do so (this is not something that we can process on the client's behalf).

bullet

Once we have all of the documentation together, duly authenticated and translated to Spanish, we will present the visa application.

bullet

The applicant will then be issued with a 3-month processing card by the immigration department.   This requires a personal visit by the applicant to the immigration department.

bullet

If the applicant travels frequently, it will also be necessary to get a multiple entry/exit permit, for 3-months.

bullet

Once the visa has been approved, the applicant will receive a one-year visa.  They will also receive a carnet, which will require another personal visit to Immigration.  We will, at this stage, request a one-year multiple entry/exit permit for the applicant.

If the applicant has dependents (i.e. spouse or children), then please contact us regarding details and requirements.
