Import Permit for Bringing the Weapon into PanamaIn order to be able to take your gun out of your country of residence, they may ask you to have already a permit or provisional permit to import the weapon into Panama. Therefore, it may be necessary to get all this paperwork together before the gun can actually leave your country. In any case, you should also be aware that some of the documents required need to be authenticated. Therefore, you need to get these organised before you come to Panama. The basic paperwork you have to get together is the following:
We will prepare a Special Power of Attorney, which will allow Gray & Co. to apply to the Ministerio de Gobierno y Justicia (Dirección Institucional en Asuntos de Seguridad Pública) for the permit. You will need to sign this, and then get it notarised and authenticated, unless you are here in Panama City. Once we have all of the above papers, we will submit the request to the Ministerio de Gobierno y Justicia. After they issue the permit, a certified copy will be forwarded to you to provide to the authorities on your end. The original will need to be provided to the Customs / Police officials here in Panama. Please note, the Customs department here in Panama does not simply hand over the weapon to you upon its arrival in Panama. It is still necessary to have a ballistics test done here in Panama, as well as getting the gun permit and license to carry the weapon. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
