Gun Permit and License to Carry a WeaponOnce you have imported the weapon into Panama, you then need to go about getting the permit for the gun, and getting licensed to carry the weapon. First time applicants need to present to the PTJ (Policia Técnica Judicial) the following:
You will need to submit with the weapon, 3 bullets for the ballistics test. You need to specify in the application whether the purpose is "personal protection" or "sport", and then provide the specifics of each weapon. According to the PTJ, this is a relatively quick approval process, once you have presented all the paperwork. Having done this last year, this "quick" was about 5 months, and this was going through an authorised gun dealer who helped with the follow up on the paperwork. If you have any questions, or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will make the relevant inquiries for you.
