Conflict of Laws - Application of Foreign Wills to Property in Panama

The right of succession to the estate of the deceased, whether national or foreigner, regarding assets of any kind in Panama is governed by Panamanian Law even when the deceased, at the time of death, was domiciled overseas.  

Nevertheless, a foreign judgement over the assets, dictated in a foreign country in accordance with those laws, shall be enforceable in Panama, unless it is in conflict with rights established under Panama's laws, which are enforced before national courts.  

Conclusions which you might draw from this Article:  

1. If there is a will overseas and probate is finalised there, you might enforce that will in Panama through the enforcement of the foreign judgement; and 
2. As long as none of the parties who might have an interest in the estate makes a claim against the properties in Panama based on Panamanian law, the Will as established overseas, will be respected and enforced by the Panamanian Court.
