TRANSLATION: Rate of Minimum Professional Fees for Lawyers in the Republic of Panama

Part VI: Criminal Procedure

Representation in Criminal Matters:

I Consultations:

1.	Verbal	either:	$100.00 - $300.00
	or	hourly	$150.00
2.	Written		$300.00
When the consultation requires representation before an Authority, this appearance will result in a 50% surcharge.

II. Lawyer's Assistance to a Detained or Subpoenaed person:

1.	In police actions, before questioning		$300.00
2.	In questioning	flat-fee	$300.00
		hourly	$150.00
3.	Representation to those subpoenaed in any stage of the process		$300.00

III. Preparation of Complaints:

1.	Before District Officials	$500.00
2.	Before District Prosecutors	$1,000.00
3.	Before Senior District Prosecutors	$1,500.00
4.	Before National Authorities	$2,000.00

IV. Defence in Criminal Proceedings

1.	At the municipal level	$1,500.00
2.	At the circuit level	$2,500.00
3.	At higher levels	$3,500.00
4.	Before National Authorities	$4,500.00
5.	Incidents presented by third parties to recuperate assets and lift precautionary measures	as agreed
6.	Bonds	as agreed
When the criminal defence begins in the summary stage, the fees shall be regulated by that established in this Section.

V. Complaints and Criminal Action for Victim Protection

When it relates to presenting complaints and criminal action for victims, the applicable professional fees are those as for defence in criminal proceedings, increased by no more than 25% of the rate indicated.

VI. Representation before Police Authorities

1.	Before judges or night courts	$200.00
2.	County sheriffs	$200.00
3.	Mayor	$300.00
4.	Governor	$300.00
5.	Hearing before Traffic Judge	$300.00
When there are appeals in the above cases, the professional fees will be:
a)	Against resolutions of night judges and county sheriffs	$100.00
b)	Against resolutions of mayors, traffic judges, and governors	$150.00

Article 5. Those subjects, matters and processes not contemplated in the list of the present rate of minimum fees, shall be established, agreed upon or determined by following, where possible, representation in analogous cases.

Article 6. Any matter or representation not regulated or in which the previous article can not be applied, may be regulated by the Board of Directors of the National Law Society of Panama, until a General Assembly of Lawyers is held which ratifies or modifies it.
